No Masters Commission for me!

It was about ten years ago when I first heard something about Masters Commission (MC). A group from Denmark came to a mission trip to my little sweet town in Estonia. Masters Commission is not a university,  but neither just some fun program, that's what I got very fast. But as much the school was described differently, the students were also different than I was used to - more relaxed, friendly, caring, they actually inspired me in the way they talked or acted.

I met so many (not exaggerated) wonderful people in all those years they came. All the students had something so, so .. Something in them that affected the youth in my town and gathered almost everybody to get the chance to hang out with those Masters Commission students.

First time ever I thought about going - or better to say, not going - was when the director of Denmark  MC said, that when I finish high school, I should be part of it myself and later on could start the program in Estonia. I laughed hard about it, because never before I've heard anybody talking so crazy!

There are lot of reasons why me going to Masters Commission is wrong. Here are some:
1. It's not even a official school. So, no government support or student-cards, student sales..
2. Takes your whole year away, sometimes even two, and in worst cases even three, and some people seem to get stuck there forever!
3. It does not give you a paper what in the end you could use to work in somewhere important..
4. My parents would never ever agree, actually non of my family members or friends. They have bigger plans for me.
5. What are they studying again?
6. I would meet very cool people but they are so spiritual and I would not fit in there
7. Going to that school would mean that I need to put EVERYTHING else aside and do only one thing (that is not me!)

///And here I am, in Amsterdam, and to do what? Waiting for my second year in Masters Commission to start. With the first year and the summer between, I have realized what lessons are about to come to stay in my brain, my thinking and being in my lifestyle. I have realized even more how important is where you are from (culture, family, environment experience), and how important is to learn to take the best out from it.
The reasons not to come, were gone in April 2012, when I needed to make a tough decision - to start building something real or to know where am I building it on. Even now, my family or friends does not understand the reasons to study in this program, but they trust me and support my decisions and that proves to me a whole lot.

In this intense 24/7 program we learn so much more than theology or church history. First of all, we all come with a baggage, so we need to fit those in the same house. But because of the cultural differences or habits or experience, we learn how to be open to something what we are not used to and to be caring and loving, more understanding. But there is so much more we learn, personal and wider lessons we get out from those ten months in that program.
This is so much more than paper, this is not a education you start your job, but if you face your challenges of the year and learn what is given to you, then you have a strong fundamental to start something what you are called to do.

It is nothing what I planned, it seems much slower than my own five year plan was, taking two years off from something you walk up on the ladder. But it looks like it is more efficient and stronger and definitely better.

So here I am. Finally knowing why I'm here and facing with one my toughest and most challenging years.
Am I ready? Not really. :)
Sure that it's the good place for me then? Positive!

For His glory and my good..
